Bassmaster Elite pros will automatically qualify for 2021; IBEX Innovation Awards go digital.

B.A.S.S. officials say that all 88 Bassmaster Elite Series pros will automatically re-qualify for the 2021 season, provided they complete the event campaign, given the hectic season due to coronavirus. Under the original rules, the bottom 10 anglers in the field — based on their average performance the last two years — would have lost their spots on the trail. “With everything unfolding the way it has and some things still up in the air from day to day, we just felt like our anglers deserved the right to fish the rest of the season without those added pressures,” said B.A.S.S. CEO Bruce Akin in a statement.

The International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference is taking its Innovation Award program to a virtual format as the 2020 event moves online. All product entries will be featured on the IBEX website, and 2020 winners will be recognized during the virtual show. IBEX organizers said in a statement that they will release more details on this as the event draws nearer. Companies can enter the contest here; deadline for entry is Aug. 14.
