To start National Fishing & Boating Week, which runs June 4-12, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation’s Take Me Fishing campaign is asking children, families and outdoor adventurers to celebrate the summer by getting outside and making memories on the water.

To sweeten the pot, RBFF is offering a trip for four in its “Memories on the Water” video contest, which launches June 2 on Facebook.

“Boating and fishing are the kinds of activities that produce some treasured — and exciting — moments that people remember for a lifetime,” RBFF president and CEO Frank Peterson said in a statement. "That's why we've developed the 'Memories on the Water' contest to show others just how much fun boating and fishing can be. It truly is a national pastime.”

The contest will run June 2-30. Visitors to the Take Me Fishing Facebook Page will have the opportunity to submit a short video — new or old — showcasing a memorable moment on the water.

Judges will select as many as 10 videos for which fans of the page can vote. One grand-prize winner will be selected, earning a trip for four to their choice of fishing and boating destinations: Orlando, Fla.; Lake Michigan; Yellowstone National Park in Montana; or New Orleans.

Randomly drawn prizes will be awarded during the contest to people who have submitted videos.
