Registration opens for workshop on marina makeovers

Registration is open for Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience, a workshop organized by the International Marina Institute and slated for Nov. 16-17 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill.

The workshop is designed for marina professionals who want to learn more about renovating their marinas, exploring new profit center ideas, rethinking the design of their marinas and seeing what other marinas are doing.

“The first Marina Makeover workshop last fall was well received by participants,” Gary Groenewold, chairman of the Association of Marina Industries, said in a statement.

IMI is a subsidiary of AMI.

“This type of hands-on training offers members of the marina industry a real nuts-and-bolts approach to marina design,” Groenewold added. “You will leave this workshop with applicable knowledge because you will be compelled to get involved and participate.”

Attendees will choose an existing marina and work in small teams to perform a case study. The teams will then redesign the facilities, increasing their overall ability to design, upgrade and maintain marina facilities. Each group will present its findings and suggestions to the rest of the participants.
