Sailing Hall of Fame names inaugural class

The National Sailing Hall of Fame this week announced its first class of inductees.

They are Betsy Alison, Hobie Alter, Capt. Charles Barr, Paul Cayard, Dennis Conner, Capt. Nathanael Herreshoff, Ted Hood, Gary Jobson, Buddy Melges, Emil “Bus” Mosbacher Jr., Lowell North, Ted Turner, Joshua Slocum, Olin Stephens and Harold Vanderbilt.

The group will be inducted Oct. 23 during an invitation-only event at the San Diego Yacht Club.
