Saunders Yachtworks held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the opening of its new headquarters in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The 15,000-square-foot building is the first of three phases for the 6-acre facility. The multiuse two-story building combines sales and administrative offices, marine engine and equipment shop, and a full-service parts department and warehouse. Future phases of development will include a full-service boatyard.

The new facility will complement the company’s existing boatyard in Orange Beach, Ala., which caters to yachts 70 feet and smaller.

"It's all about becoming more of a regional player," said Andrew Saunders, chairman of Saunders Yachtworks, in a statement.

The Gulf Shores facility will employ up to 75 people when completed.
