The International Marina Institute released the schedule for its one-day Weathering the Storm hurricane preparedness and recovery conference, scheduled for Oct. 29 in Miami. The group also released the names of the marinas that will be included in the Marina Study Tour on Oct. 30.

The conference includes 10 speakers covering 10 topics on hurricane planning. The goal is to help marinas make hurricane plans as experts discuss storm tracking and prediction, communications, insurance, marina design, electrical and fuel systems, employee safety and docks.

The conference will conclude with a question-and-answer panel.

The Marina Study Tour will take attendees to marinas in the Miami area that were affected by Hurricane Irma last year, including Bill Bird Marina, Pelican Harbour, Matheson Hammock, Dinner Key and Grove Harbour. Personnel at each facility will discuss how they prepared for, weathered and recovered from the hurricane.

Conference attendees are invited to an opening reception at the Marriott Miami Biscayne Bay on Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.
