SCMA elects 2010-11 officers

The Southern California Marine Association board of directors elected officers to serve for the 2010-11 term.

President Bruce Brown, Bruce Brown & Associates; vice president Richard Tressler, Essex Credit Corp.; secretary Dan Klaas, Hipp Marine; and treasurer Jeff Jones, Brunswick/Mercury Marine were re-elected.

"As an association, SCMA is very fortunate to have a wealth of experienced and dedicated industry leaders willing to volunteer their time and expertise to help guide our organization," executive director Dave Geoffroy said in a statement. "These are not easy times for our members and it is our job to assist them in any way we can to help them be as successful and prosperous as possible. I commend these four individuals for their willingness to step forward and again accept the responsibility that goes with these office."

Brown was also presented with the Byron Bronson Memorial Award during the July 13 board meeting. The award is named in honor of former SCMA president and longtime board member Byron Bronson, who passed away July 9, 2007, and honors  extraordinary service and contributions to the Southern California recreational boating industry.
