Sea Tow Services International announced that McKinley Marina in Milwaukee is now a Sea Tow Automated Radio Check host station.

Boaters in the Milwaukee Harbor Basin can use the service by calling channel 27 on their VHF radio.

Sea Tow's Automated Radio Check service, provided in association with MariTel, lets boaters quickly check that their vessel's VHF radio is in good working order. To use the service, they tune the VHF to the local Automated Radio Check channel, key the mic and request a radio check. They will hear an automated response and their call will be played back to them, confirming that the radio is operational and allowing them to assess transmission strength.

The automated check is broadcast via VHF channels 24-28, depending on the region. Boaters can find the dedicated channel in their area by visiting, entering their city, state or ZIP code and finding their location on the interactive map.

Workers Wanted

Like most people born in 1990, Justin Bennett was on a four-year college track. He and his parents took it for granted that he would attend college before moving on to a steady desk job — until a stint at sailing camp, and later as a counselor, helped Bennett discover his passion for boats.
