Sea Tow Services International's 24-hour national call center dispatched 54 percent more calls over the Memorial Day weekend (Saturday through Monday) than the same time last year and 69 percent more than 2008.

The increased activity during the long weekend, widely considered the opening of the boating season, is a positive sign for the summer, said Sea Tow operators. Nice weather across the country was also cited as a factor.
