The Sicily Boating Project, launched in 2012 by the authority of the Sicilian Region to boost boating activities and expand the region’s global nautical industry, is opening its 2014 campaign at events that include the Miami International Boat Show and the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach.

The Sicily Boating Project also made a renewed push at the Düsseldorf Boat Show.

The group has increased the presence of Sicilian marine industries at the shows and will unveil additional plans to welcome foreign visitors and entrepreneurs to discover the business opportunities Sicily offers.

With 650 miles of coast, Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean, as well as one that has a rich history and culture.

In 2012 the authority of the Sicilian Region promoted a boost in boating activities to improve and expand the nautical industry from local to global. The Sicily Boating Project sponsored several events along the coast, including a weeklong convention for foreign entrepreneurs and journalists from five continents.

Participants traveled the Sicilian coast in three buses, visiting new and old marinas, boatbuilders and marine-related industries. Local officials were at every port, welcoming visitors and showing them potential opportunities in each area.
