Skipper Bud’s said it has acquired Island Cove Marina on Cass Lake in Michigan.

The marina in Waterford is a full-service location with 125 floating docks, a fuel dock, brokerage sales, service and repair facilities and a large dry-stack storage building. The new name will be Skipper Bud’s-Cass Lake Marina and the marina will become Skipper Bud’s sixth location in Michigan.

Skipper Bud’s said it will immediately add new-boat sales to the business and plans to transform the marina and grounds during the next 24 months. The renovations will include a new dry-stack storage building, service and sales facilities and new docks.

“It’s about the location,” Skipper Bud’s president Mike Pretasky Jr. said in a statement. “It always has been a great location. It’s easy for boaters to access, being just minutes from M-59 in the heart of Oakland County, on the largest all-sports lake.”

Pretasky said the marina will be a destination location in the Detroit metropolitan market.

“We are committed to this market and not afraid to make a long-term investment in Oakland County,” Pretasky said. “With this great location, and our other three dealerships in the Detroit metro area, we are increasing our ability to service boaters.”

“I am also looking for new pontoon, sport boat and deck boat lines to round out the new product lineup at this facility,” Pretasky added.
