Smartgyro Signs Distributors, Hires Sales Manager
Smartgyro said it reached agreements with three U.S. distributors and has hired Bob Walker as technical sales manager.
The distributors are Mastry Engine Center in Florida, Mack Boring and Parts Co. in New Jersey, and Boatswain’s Locker in California, Smartgyro said in a statement this morning. All three are key distributors for Yanmar. Gyrostabilizer manufacturer Smartgyro is part of the Yanmar recreational marine unit.
Smartgyro “will utilize Yanmar’s existing North American dealer networks in addition to some new dealers within the market for sales and aftersales,” the statement said. “The key partnerships with established distributors in the powerboat market, in both the leisure and commercial sectors, will ensure coordinated, seamless support and expert service for Smartgyro customers and OEMs.”
Walker will serve as technical sales manager for the United States. He has almost 30 years of experience in marine equipment and yacht sales. Most recently he was application engineer at sister company Vetus. He will work with the distributors to build Smartgyro’s market presence and brand awareness.
“As the number of people boating grows, so does the market for products like stabilizers that make that experience more enjoyable for everyone on board,” Walker said. “It’s not surprising that we are seeing boats in almost all size ranges coming to the market with stabilization as standard equipment or as an option.”
