SoCal group holding women’s convention

The Southern California Yachting Association will hold its 20th annual Women’s Sailing Convention Feb. 7 at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, Calif.

The event is open to all women, from novices to experts, and features more than two dozen workshops presented by top women sailors from Southern California. Topics include Suddenly Single-handed, Offshore Sailing, Cruising Preparedness, Beyond Band-Aids, Spinnaker Rigging, Dabble in Diesels, Weather, New Racing Rules and Marine AC/DC Systems.

An evening dinner will feature guest speaker Lynn H. Reister (aka The Boat Whisperer), a member of the Seattle-based Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors.

Registration is limited to 280, and cost is $160, which includes continental breakfast, box lunch, banquet dinner, all workshops, handouts, and a skipper's bag. Registration deadline is Jan. 30.
