The Landing School names new president

The Landing School in Arundel, Maine, is searching for a new president. After being with the school for four years, current president Dr. Richard Schuhmann is leaving when his contract expires at the end of June.

Dr. Schuhmann led the school through significant improvements including innovations in the development and application of composite boat building materials and techniques and initiatives in teaching sustainable and low-carbon impact marine practices and integration of CNC machining and 3-D printing into the curriculum.

“We are very proud of our school and greatly appreciate Dr. Schuhmann’s contributions,” said Haven Ladd, chairman of The Landing School’s Board of Trustees, in a statement. “With the quality of our programming, the expertise of our teachers and the enthusiasm of our students, we continue to be excited about the future of the school and the marine industry.”

Dr. Schuhmann will be returning to science and engineering in a position that will allow him to spend more time with his family.
