Trawler Fest steams into Solomons next week

PassageMaker's Solomons Trawler Fest will be held Oct. 2-4 in Solomons, Md.

Based at the Calvert Marina and Holiday Inn Select, Trawler Fest will feature more than 40 boats on display, exhibit space showcasing a variety of boating services and products, and educational seminars and hands-on demonstrations.

Making its debut at the show will be the new Maine Cat P-47. The show lineup also includes the next-generation 47-foot design from Selene, a Grand Banks 41 Heritage EU, a Krogen 55 that won the People's Choice Award at the Stuart Trawler Fest, and a newly designed Marine Trader 36.

PassageMaker University, set for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, now offers an additional opportunity to benefit from one of its most popular classes: "Women-Only Boat Handling." Mary Taylor, a delivery captain with years of experience, will lead a two-day session aboard a single-screw boat.

Other Trawler Fest seminars will include:

  • Repair Projects - Matt Holloway
  • Finding Your Cruising Style - Katie & Gene Hamilton
  • Navigating with Radar: Collision Avoidance - Capt. John Martino
  • Using the New VHF/DSC Marine Radio - Wayne Rogers
  • The View from the Other End of the Towline and Hoist Cable - Capt. Kip Louttit
