Tropical Storm Don nears Texas coast

Tropical Storm Don is expected to make landfall in south Texas late today or early Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Don, with maximum sustained winds near 50 miles per hour, is about 255 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, and 195 miles east of Brownsville.

A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Texas coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande to Matagorda. The hurricane center advises interests in northeastern Mexico to monitor the storm’s progress.
