Two New England states address no-discharge zones
The Environmental Protection Agency has received petitions from the states of Maine and Massachusetts regarding no-discharge zones.
Maine is requesting a determination that adequate facilities for the safe and sanitary removal and treatment of sewage from all vessels are reasonably available for the waters of Boothbay Harbor.
Massachusetts is requesting that determination for the waters of Revere, Saugus, Lynn, Nahant and Swampscott.
Comments on both petitions can be submitted until Feb. 4.
