With the record books about to close on another year of racing, US Sailing is celebrating the most outstanding performances of the year with the release of its short list of nominees for the 2012 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year.

Those who made the 2012 short list represent the diversity of the sport, from kite boarders to one-design champions. The nominees will be reviewed by a panel of sailing journalists who will vote to determine the Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year.

The winners will be announced in January and honored Feb. 26 during a luncheon at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, where they will receive Rolex timepieces.
