USDA To Invest $800M on Outdoor Resources
In conjunction with Earth Day, the Biden Administration announced almost $800 million in federal spending on infrastructure projects that promote clean outdoor activities and water resources.
The investment by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, confirmed in a statement, drew praise from the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable.
"High-quality trails, campgrounds, marinas and other recreation infrastructure projects are crucial to healthy outdoor recreation economies, as are renewable energy and energy efficiency, rural services and utilities, water quality, high-speed broadband access and much more,” ORR president Jessica Turner said in a separate statement Monday. "These critical investments ensure that our nation’s recreation destinations can thrive while mitigating their impacts on a changing climate and ensuring sustainable access for generations to come.”
The USDA announcement comes as a summit, "Electric Vehicles and Next Generation Technologies for Outdoor Recreation,” is scheduled for Wednesday, ORR stated.
"We are excited to start this dialogue and work with businesses, communities and elected leaders on how best to transition to cleaner technologies in outdoor recreation,” Turner said.
