Mercury Marine is partnering with Fox Sports Outdoors host Barry Stokes to produce a video showing the negative effects that E15, or fuel that is 15 percent ethanol, has on a marine outboard engine.

“Mercury Marine has joined with many other marine organizations around the country in an educational campaign to alert you to the dangers of using anything greater than 10 percent ethanol in an outboard engine,” Stokes said in a statement.

“Safety is our No. 1 concern, and it is imperative that we provide the education needed to ensure that boaters know what they are putting in their engine,”Mercury Marine public relations director Lee Gordon said.

“We want to make sure that boaters understand the effects that E15 has on their engine before they are 30 miles offshore and it’s too late.”
