West Marine contest has 'green' theme

West Marine recently launched a new Green Product of the Year contest, with a $10,000 prize to be awarded at the 2010 Miami International Boat Show.

“We hope to encourage innovation and a steady stream of environmentally friendly products so our children and our children's children will have the opportunity to enjoy plentiful oceans and beautiful blue waters, as we have," CEO Geoff Eisenberg said in a statement.

The competition is free and open to individuals, manufacturers, distributors and/or inventors of boating products. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: eco-effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, applicability and breadth of market impact, degree of innovation and originality, and compliance with official rules.

Entry forms must be submitted by Nov. 1. For information, click here.
