Westlawn debuts design competition

The Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology announces a new boat design competition.

The contest — held in conjunction with PassageMaker magazine and sponsored by Imtra Marine Lighting, with matching funds from the American Boat and Yacht Council — is similar to Westlawn’s sailboat design competitions. However, this challenge aims to find a trawler design that is cruising-capable, affordable and economical.

The winner will receive either a $2,000 Westlawn scholarship or a $1,000 cash award.

Entries should be mailed to PassageMaker Design Competition, Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology, 613 Third St., Suite 10, Annapolis, MD 21403. They must be postmarked no later than May 15, 2009.
