British Columbia-based WestWinn Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new high-tech facility.

The aluminum-boat manufacturer, which uses a dedicated dealer network to sell its Jetcraft, Harbercraft and Kingfisher boats, is calling the new plant the WestWinn Group Center of Excellence and says it will increase efficiencies and accelerate research and development.

Set to open this spring, the plant will feature 52,000 square feet of space for lean manufacturing processes and equipment to accommodate flexible manufacturing, while employing 85 skilled craftsmen. An environmentally friendly heat recovery system reportedly will reduce gas consumption considerably.
