Jones Valley Resort/Houseboats.com announced Troy and Charlie Burns won the $16,500 vacation giveaway aboard the 65-foot Titan rental houseboat.

"We were pleased with the enthusiastic response, with almost 120 entries from all over California," said Mike Han, Houseboats.com COO, in a statement.

Houseboats.com chose the Burns family for several reasons. Both Troy and Charlie give to the community (he as a volunteer firefighter and she as a 4-H leader), and they have persevered through job cutbacks, all while caring for ailing parents and their family that includes three teenagers.

"This, along with the recent passing of Charlie's father, led Houseboats.com in selecting this deserving family, who reside near the city of Anderson and Shasta Lake," Houseboats.com said in the statement. "The Burnses and their friends will enjoy a week of relaxation aboard the Titan - a time to bond and experience a level of 'getting away from it all' not found with other types of vacations."

Houseboats.com operates on three Northern California lakes offering houseboat rentals: New Melones Lake Marina, Barrett Cove Marina on Lake McClure, and Jones Valley Resort on Shasta Lake.
