WoodenBoat Show returns this weekend to Mystic

The WoodenBoat Show, owned and produced by WoodenBoat magazine, takes place this weekend at Mystic (Conn.) Seaport.

Wooden-boat owners and enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view and board more than 100 traditional and classic wooden vessels, from Skua raceboats to a 100-foot John Alden schooner.

The show will also feature items to outfit boats, as well as demonstrations and workshops.

Family BoatBuilding returns to the WoodenBoat Show this year. Ten families from around the country will build their first boat under the instruction of the designers. They will launch Sunday afternoon.

The19th annual show will honor Iain Oughtred, the dinghy racer turned boatbuilder, whose designs have been built by professionals and amateurs alike. On Saturday evening, WoodenBoat magazine will host a tribute dinner for Oughtred and show many of his designs.
