Yachts International adds charter-book sales manager

Active Interest Media’s Marine Group announced that D.J. Kiernan will head up sales efforts for Yachts International’s Private Yacht Vacations annual charter book.

Kiernan formerly headed charter marketing globally for Camper & Nicholsons, overseeing one of the industry’s largest charter fleets.

Previously he established the charter division for the Netherlands-based and renowned superyacht builder Feadship, as well as the retail wine division for Eten Food Co. in Fort Lauderdale.

“The team at Yachts International is extremely excited to have such a knowledgeable and professional individual join our team to lead sales efforts for our annual charter publication, Private Yacht Vacations,” publisher Shannon McCoy said in a statement.

“D.J. brings with him vast experience in both the retail and charter marketing sides of our business. I have known D.J. for several years and have enjoyed watching him develop into the talented executive that he is today.”

Shortly after earning a bachelor’s degree from the College of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Niagara University in 2002, Kiernan set a course for Fort Lauderdale, where he first served as sales manager at the convention center. He soon went on to establish with notable success the charter division for Feadship, one of the most prestigious superyacht builders in the world.

Kiernan was recruited by Camper & Nicholsons in 2010 to become director of its charter marketing division in the United States. Eight months later, he was promoted to director of charter marketing worldwide. He moved to Monte-Carlo, Monaco, where he oversaw nine charter managers in a division doing more than 500 yacht charters a year.

In 2013, Kiernan launched his business development consultancy, Connect K3, where he established the retail wine division for Eten Food Co. in Fort Lauderdale. Connect K3 is now honored to be representing Private Yacht Vacations for Yachts International and AIM Marine Group. He is also the founder and past president of Young Professionals in Yachting.

“I am delighted to be working with the team at Yachts International and look forward to helping produce the best Private Yacht Vacations book to date. I have been a strong supporter of the annual publication since it first launched, and now it is an honor to represent the title,” Kiernan said.

Active Interest Media also owns Soundings Trade Only.
