The Art Director is responsible for the dual-roles of managing the visual identity and layouts of multiple Marine Group publications. In this case, the role specifically identifies the visual management of both Passagemaker and Yachts International (a total of 12 magazine releases throughout each calendar year)in a close collaboration with each magazine’s Editor in Chief.

Qualifications

  • Position requires the need to work across multiple brands within the company, including the end goals of editorial, marketing/commercial/advertising, as well as brochures, special editions, website art direction, and more.Position requires flexibility on deadline to move quickly, efficiently to managing shifting layouts all the way up to the deadline

  •  The ideal candidate has a love of typography, pays close attention to detail, is a conceptual thinker and an excellent communicator, and can manage multiple projects
  • Candidate must be talented and energetic
  •  Must have experience in assigning illustration, creating info-graphics, and art-directing photo shoots
  • Strong design abilities and typographic skills
  •  Sharp eye for color and ability to communicate corrections to imaging
  • Expert InDesign, InCopy Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Experience in photography/videography a plus
  • Experience on or around boats/love of being on the water a plus

Responsibilities

Professional demeanor is a must for all positions at Active Interest Media. In addition to courteous, friendly, businesslike behavior, the following qualifications are fundamental to this position:

  • This position reports to the editor-in-chief, and will work closely with the creative director to evolve the look of the FOB, as well as design feature stories and packages
  • Design and layout award-winning magazines
  • Work closely with the editor-in-chief to maintain and evolve the look of the magazines
  • Work closely with editor to keep day-to-day production of issue on track
  • Design special sections and brand extension projects
  • Assign illustrations
  • Create briefs for photographers to set expectations for photo shoots to ensure visual storytelling will complement the written word
