Career Description

We are expanding our Leadership Team with the addition of a Director of Operations.

Purpose and Scope
The Director of Operations manages all aspects of the Operations Team, working hands-on to direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of those tasked with Supply Chain Management and After Sales Support for the products Boatswain’s Locker represents. The Director of Operations is responsible for achieving corporate goals of productivity and profitability while maintaining exceptional standards of quality, safety, and employee morale. This position will report directly to the President of the company.

Compensation: Target compensation of $108 - $144K base salary plus performance bonus and Executive Benefits.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Examples of the duties and responsibilities include:

Inventory Management

  • Manage Purchasing and Inventory Control of both finished goods and spare parts
  •  Manage inventories for optimal order fill rates, maximum ROI, and efficient use of funds

Production and Warehousing

  • Manage finished goods final assembly and testing (engines, generators, etc.) prior to shipment
  • Manage warehousing of finished goods (engines, generators, etc.) as well as spare parts

Technical Service Support

  • Oversee Service Centers supporting local product population
  • Oversee Technical Support and Training of staff, OEMs, Dealers, and other users
  • Oversee Warranty and Customer Service support of all products

General Administrative Duties

  • Maintain organized and accurate files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Oversee facilities and equipment maintenance
  • Review and analyze appropriate management reports and take corrective action or make improvements
  • Work with others on Leadership Team to proactively grow and improve the business
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to provide Leadership and promote Company Core Values and Philosophy
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


Minimum Required Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar industry with dealer/OEM contact experience preferred
  • 10+ years of managerial experience in a wholesale distribution and service environment
  • Overall knowledge of manufacturer, field, and dealership operations
  • Proven success in Supply Chain Management
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing large teams
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with MS Office and distribution software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent people skills and aptitude in problem-solving and customer service
  • Excellent planning, training, coaching, motivating, implementing and managing skills
  • Ability to provide support, direction, and coaching to subordinate employees in the areas of disciplinary action and problem resolution
  • Excellent collaborative skills – effective working in a Team with a results-driven approach
  • Electro-Mechanical Aptitude
  • Organized and efficient
  • Is as comfortable working in a shop/warehouse environment as in an office
