Seeking a General Manager for our Team at Pikes Bay Marina located in Bayfield WI, in the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior. Our current retiring General Manager will train. Pikes Bay Marina is a full-service 208 slip marina which includes Vessel Service, Fuel Dock, Ship Store, Brokerage and Indoor and Outdoor storage. As a full-service marina, we pride ourselves on being forward-looking in all aspects of our business. Pikes Bay Marina was designated as Marina Dockage’s 2018 Marina of the Year and is a Wisconsin Certified Clean Marina. Pikes Bay Marina is owned by a progressive Property Management Company who were the original developers of the property in 2000.

A successful candidate will spend their time shaping the work environment, setting strategy, allocating resources, developing managers, building the organization and overseeing operations.


  • CMM – Certified Marina Manager certificate preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of five years’ management experience in a marina or marine dealership that included a boatyard and/or marine service department.
  • Sufficient financial background to understand and interpret financial reports
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Pikes Bay Marina utilizes MOLO Marina Management software, a cloud-based system

  • Appropriate management experience in the hospitality industry or similar will be considered


  • Coordinate, manage and mentor all departmental managers and administrative staff with forward-looking leadership
  • Supervise all marina operations to ensure quality, prompt, courteous and safe services to all members and customers
  • Maintain a positive and open leadership presence with marina Members (slip holders) and customers
  • Oversee profit centers including Slips & Storage, Fuel Dock, Ship’s Store, Vessel Service and Parts and Brokerage. Monitor actual versus projected budget figures on a monthly basis. Investigate negative deviations and set/monitor objectives to correct
  • Approve all purchases, invoices and check requests
  • Derive to seek out, identify and develop new revenue sources
  •  Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise all personnel and/or contract labor either directly or via departmental supervisors, including disciplinary actions and terminations when appropriate
  • Organize and attend weekly management meetings
  • Ensure marina policy, procedure and safety manuals are updated, communicated and enforced
  • Operate the marina consistent with and maintain the marina’s standing as a Wisconsin Clean Marina
  • Ensure the safety of customers and employees. Provide for training of employees in the safe use of marina equipment and all functions related to their respective positions, including the training of firefighting equipment and spill containment
  • Ensure and take appropriate action for the proper maintenance of all marina property, equipment, grounds, facilities and docks
  • · Respond to wind storm or other emergency events that could damage marina assets or guest property
  •  Understand and comply with government regulations and laws pertaining to marina operations and handle all aspects of governmental reporting and compliance including but not limited to local Governmental Agencies, State of Wisconsin, Wisconsin DNR and OSHA
  •  Lead in developing and implementing innovative marketing plans for Pikes Bay Marina
  • Develop professional relationships with marine/marina advisory groups such as the Association of Marine Industries (AMI), Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA), American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), National Marine Electronics Association (NEMA) and Wisconsin Marine Association. Also, to include the local Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) Marine Technician Program
  • Report directly to the owners’ group and assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by the owners’ group

Salary Range $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience
