CompX Marine is the parent corporation of Custom Marine Inc, manufacture of stainless-steel exhaust and marine components. CompX Marine also owns Livorsi Marine, manufacturer of throttles, trim tabs, and other marine accessories. 

Account Manager

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop new sales areas by identifying potential customers, establishing connections, and cultivating business relationships.
  • Direct sales of Custom Marine and Livorsi Marine to both current and new marine OEM’s, dealers as well as opportunities outside the marine industry.
  • Maintain existing customer relationships and discover areas for growth through various methods and creativity.
  • Be able to learn and understand our manufacturing processes to identify relevant opportunities for all three of our manufacturing locations.
  • Participate in product research, design, and development.
  • Manage new product programs by learning product details/specifications, providing technical training and support to customer service team, and leading product launch initiatives.
  • Research and follow the latest in industry trends, both local and international, and create new opportunities for viable income streams.
  • Study costing with Engineering and Planning to maximize profitability.
  • Write business proposals.
  • Review customer contracts.
  • Report to our Grayslake, IL facility daily when not traveling.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Marine Industry knowledge, excellent customer service skills and previous sales experience required.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, be capable of multi-tasking and can work well under pressure.
  • Regular travel of approximately 50% to customer / prospects locations and trade shows required
  • Ability to act as an application engineer while problem solving existing or new product challenges
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to design small mechanical and electro - mechanical mechanisms with tight tolerances.
  • Ability to create 3D models and 2D drawings accurately and efficiently in Pro E and SolidWorks.
  • Understanding on how to dimension components and assemblies.
  • Understanding of GD & T.
  • Ability to design products considering manufacturing processes and process capability.
  • Ability to develop and manage programs in compliance with the Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) guidelines as defined by AIAG.
  • Ability to not only design / develop products but be a leader and manager of the program.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Committed to teamwork and team goals, with the ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.


Position Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ of experience
  • Marine industry experience/knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Pro E Wildfire 5/Creo.
