Application maker NavPlay unveils notification system for boaters

NavPlay, a manufacturer of iPad apps for boaters, announced its notification system.

The system is composed of Alarm Manager, which notifies boaters through their iPads if pre-set conditions are met; the Diagnostics environment, which checks the status of instruments via a Wi-Fi connection; Safety Life, which automatically texts alarms to a mobile phone; and AIS compatibility for situational awareness and collision avoidance.

“The NavPlay app is the first of its kind,” Andrea Buralli, NavPlay’s sales and marketing manager, said in a statement. “With tens of millions of iPad users and boaters, we developed NavPlay to tap into the full capacity of the iPad and best utilize the man-machine interface in a way that is familiar to the modern boater. Our notification system lets boaters relax and enjoy their excursions. We remove the burden of a sleepless night on anchor watch and reduce the anxiety of leaving your boat while you go ashore.”

The NavPlay app costs $4.99.

The Diagnostic environment, Alarms Manager, Safety Life and AIS functionality are available during the initial 15-day trial period when using the Vesper Marine promo code or with a 15-day or annual subscription priced at $14.99 and $44.99 respectively.

The NavPlay app is available for download from the Apple App Store in English, Italian, French and German, and is compatible with Apple iPad2, iPad3, iPad4, iPad mini and iPad Air models running iOS 6.0 or greater.

C-Map by Jeppesen charts are not included, but can be easily purchased from NavPlay using the Jeppesen Marine tool located in the ‘Service’section of the NavPlay app.
