Bass Cat and Yar-Craft plan facility expansion

Bass Cat and Yar-Craft Boats production facilities will expand by 30,000 square feet, allowing for an additional 75 percent in space and adding 50 percent manufacturing capacity.

The companies say they experienced double-digit growth in units produced in 2012 and 2013. This was in part due to the purchase of Yar-Craft Boats in December 2011, which now comprises a “significant percentage” of manufacturing in the company’s Mountain Home, Ark., facility.

The company acquired 30,000 square feet of building space next door to the existing facility. The new space is on 7.5 acres in the same industrial park.

“We needed it, and when the building became available it was natural to make every effort to purchase it,” said company co-founder Ron Pierce in a statement. “It’s not perfect, though it’s handy and an easy transition. It took us less than 45 days to complete the purchase and we’re glad to have it.”

The companies said they experienced a 68 percent combined increase in annual production for model year 2013 over 2011.
