For the fifth year in a row, Boston Whaler delivered 50 backpacks to three Edgewater, Fla., area elementary schools to help aid students in need as part of its annual “Boatload of Backpacks” fundraiser.

President Huw Bower and a group of Whaler staff trailered a 170 Dauntless full of 150 backpacks and overflowing boxes of additional school supplies to Edgewater Public School and Indian River Elementary in Edgewater and Burns Science and Technology Charter School in Oak Hill.

“We love giving back to the community as often as possible,” Bower said in a statement, “and sparking excitement in the young minds of these students is a gift in itself. We look forward to doing this for many years to come.”

Each backpack included notebooks, crayons, pencils and other necessary supplies to get students through the school year. The supplies were donated by Whaler employees, and then were matched by the company to double the donation.
