Publish date:

Boston Whaler unveiled updated versions of its 130 and 160 Super Sport for 2019.

The boats are powered by 4-stroke Mercury outboards: a 40-hp engine on the 130 and a 75-hp outboard on the 160. The 160 has a 10-inch draft, and the 130 draws 9 inches. A sleeker profile gives the boats a more contemporary look that can be accented with color choices.

The Super Sports are available with a variety of seating configurations including a cooler seat with a cushion, bench seating with cushioned backrests and optional bucket seats. A bow cushion is also available.

The 160 Super Sport can be ordered with a powder-coated ski tow or ski arch, as well as a 90-hp outboard and 19-gallon fuel tank. Additional options include a sun top and a removable windshield.

The eJET 450 has an estimated top speed of 35.7 mph and runs for 90 minutes of 26.5 mph and 7 hours at 5.75 mph. The eJET also has connectivity that allows servicing and upgrading online. Its tubes are made of Hypalon fabric, and the interior has electrically retractable seats.

Brooklin Boat Yard and Hinckley collaborate

Brooklin Boat Yard and Hinckley Yachts are partnering on a Bill Tripp-designed Sou’wester 53. Hinckley will build the composite hull, and Brooklin Boat Yard will craft the interior. The pilothouse sloop is expected to launch in June 2019.

The Sou’wester 53 has a single-level layout that places the helm in the pilothouse. The boat has two double cabins and two heads with stall showers. Hinckley will build the boat with carbon outer skins, foam coring and a carbon inner skin, infused with epoxy resin. The foil is biaxial e-glass and epoxy-wrapped steel with a lead ballast bulb. The rudder is also made with carbon. Auxiliary power is an 80-hp Yanmar Saildrive and the boat is equipped with a bow thruster.
