Boston Whaler marks safety milestone

Boston Whaler’s manufacturing facility in Edgewater, Fla., reached 3 million hours without a lost-time accident or illness, the company announced.

“Safety and quality are a part of the Boston Whaler culture, and the extraordinary achievement of 3 million hours is a testament to that commitment,” Boston Whaler president Tim Schiek said in a statement. “Our employees care about what they do and about the Whaler brand. This record is affirmation of that passion.”

All employees must adhere to the company’s standards and those of external oversight organizations such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Boston Whaler also tries to involve employees in its safety programs. Employees can submit suggestions for improving manufacturing safety, and they are recognized when their proposals are successfully implemented.
