Sea-Doo and was recognized at the Good Design Australia Awards. Sea-Doo’s Fish Pro upgrade package for personal watercraft was honored in the Automotive and Transport category and the company’s LinQ system for Coolers was awarded in the Sport and Lifestyle category.
“Receiving a recognition as prestigious as Good Design Australia always makes us extremely proud,” Denys Lapointe, senior vice president, design, innovation and creative services at BRP, said in a statement. “This demonstrates that our team maintains their outstanding creativity and ingenuity year after year.”
The Fish Pro package includes a bracket for a 6-inch Garmin Echomap Plus 62cv fishfinder, an extended aft platform and other components that convert a Sea-Doo watercraft for fishing. The LinQ fishing cooler is designed for fishing with integrated rod holders and tackle and bait storage, plus a securing system that holds it in place.
The awards jury commented on the Fish Pro, saying, “This is brimming with clever ideas to turn a personal watercraft into a recreational fishing craft. The bespoke touches, such as the dedicated holder for the Garmin fish finder, the easily detachable and transportable esky (with ruler) and the side-saddle rear seat and gunwale non-slip footrest all tick clever design boxes.”
Regarding the LinQ system, the judges said, “This is such a novel idea that will open up a whole new raft of possibilities and functions for the end user.”
BRP division Can-Am also won an award in the Automotive and Transport category for its Ryker three-wheeled motorcycle.
