Brunswick creates boat technology center


Brunswick Boat Group, a division of Brunswick Corp is planning to build the Brunswick Fiberglass Boat Technology Center. The 45,000-square-foot facility will be located in Edgewater, Fla., and will develop products for Boston Whaler and Sea Ray.

“Brunswick Corporation will create a commanding position in boat design and innovation with the formation of our world-class technology center,” David Foulkes, Brunswick Corporation CEO, said in a statement. “Over the last few years, we have established a strong foundation of cross-functional and cross-brand initiatives and investments that leverage the power of our enterprise. The Brunswick Fiberglass Boat Technology Center is one of the essential building blocks for our future vision; we will continue to define, create and embody the future of recreational boating.”

The center is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2019 and will create new technology and engineering jobs in central Florida.

“Technology has completely changed the boating industry over the past decade and both Boston Whaler and Sea Ray have been at the forefront of that change,” Huw Bower, Brunswick Boat Group president, said in the statement. “The entire Brunswick Boat Group will benefit from shared resources in the new technology center and there is a tremendous amount of growth opportunity for all of our brands.”
