Brunswick urging Whaler owners to consider boat-rental service

Brunswick is targeting owners of its popular Boston Whaler brand to sign up for Boatbound, a peer-to-peer boat rental company it partnered with last year.

“With over $15 million in rental inquiries in 2014 on Boatbound, boat owners from all over the U.S. not only offset the costs of their boat, but made money,” said a flier Brunswick issued. “With even more demand in 2015, Boatbound owners can earn enough to offset their boat storage, maintenance and even have some left over!”

The companies announced their partnership in March of 2014, saying Boatbound would give special access to members of owners clubs to brands that include Sea Ray, Bayliner and Boston Whaler, as well as to Brunswick dealers.

A Boatbound website page depicts Whaler owners and the amount of money they made each month renting out vessels.

Brendan F., from Miami, says, “Through Boatbound I was able to pay 50 percent of my 2014 dry dock storage, boat washing and insurance costs for my Montauk 210.”

The owner said he was considering upgrading to the 230 Vantage because of the revenue he can generate through Boatbound.
