Ferretti Group names Allied Marine director

The Ferretti Group named industry veteran Bruce Schattenburg director of luxury yacht charters for Allied Marine and appointed Schattenburg to lead a new office in Fort Lauderdale.

Ferretti opened a new Allied Marine office in Fort Lauderdale at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, next door to National Marine Suppliers.

Schattenburg, who leads the team at the new office, will be tasked with expanding Allied Marine’s luxury yacht charter division. He also will reopen the Allied Marine-Ferretti Group superyacht division, which will focus on sales of new and used yachts larger than 100 feet. Schattenburg said he is also interested in growing the charter business in Latin America and Asia.

A California native who has long made yachting capital Fort Lauderdale his home, Schattenburg brings more than three decades of experience in the yachting industry to his new position at Allied Marine.

Most recently, he was director of U.S. operations for yacht sales, charter and management company Y.CO USA in Fort Lauderdale.

Prior posts were as a yacht broker at International Yacht Collection; managing director/partner of The Sacks Group Yachting Professionals; and a yacht broker with Fraser Yachts in Fort Lauderdale and San Diego.

Schattenburg was president of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association in 2009, has served on the FYBA board since 1999 and is a founding member of the U.S. Superyacht Association.

“After admiring Bruce’s charter and sales acumen for the last 25 years, the opportunity finally presented itself for us to work together,” Allied Marine president Jon Burkard said in a statement. “We are really excited to get somebody of his quality, ethics and background to join our team.”

"A luxury yacht vacation is the perfect experience to introduce new people to the yachting lifestyle,” Schattenburg said. “We are finding more and more happy charter clients end up as owners, and some jump straight from chartering to owning a superyacht as their first yacht. I am extremely interested in bringing the charter lifestyle experience to emerging markets such as Asia and Latin America, where Allied/Ferretti is uniquely positioned with international vested partners to help expand our reach. A luxury yacht vacation is the best-kept travel secret around the world, and I look forward to working with the Allied Marine team to get the word out.”

Ferretti Group companies Ferretti, Pershing, Itama, Bertram, Riva, Mochi Craft, CRN and Ferretti Custom Line build a large number of superyachts among their yacht offerings each year.
