Formula Boats is taking its crossover, open-bow, outboard-powered concept into super-console territory with the announcement of the 500 Super Sport Crossover.

The 500 SSC expands on the company’s SmartZone theme, with a flush deck that extends from its massive swim platform, past the aft deck and its day galley and gigantic seating area and into the enclosed salon. The asymmetrical layout has a side deck to port leads to the slide-open window and open bow and its wraparound, C-shape seating area.

The 71 square-foot swim platform is flanked with two, fold-down boarding ladders, drink holders, speakers and subwoofer and a dedicated spot for a Seabob.

The list of standards on Formula’s flagship is extensive. Perhaps most notable is its power package: quintuple, 400-hp Mercury Verado outboards. Options include the same amount of 400Rs or 450Rs from Mercury Racing, the latter yielding 2,250 total horsepower. All engine packages are matched to Merc’s Joystick Piloting, DTS and SmartCraft VesselView.

At the starboard-side helm, triple bolstered seating allows the captain some company with a standard array of dual Raymarine Axiom XL 24 MFDs matched to a 48-inch, Raymarine open-array radar and FLIR M332 thermal camera. Digital switching is incorporated throughout the vessel, controlled via a dash-mounted, 12-inch Raymarine Axiom and iPad.

The salon takes full advantage of the 500 SSC’s 14-foot, 6-inch beam and can be as open or closed as you choose. The fiberglass hardtop that covers the entire space features a full-width, electrically actuated sunroof in the forward section, with a fixed glass roof over the aft salon. On hotter days, close the sunroof, utilize the salon’s 30,000 BTUs of air conditioning and close off the area completely via a motorized glass bulkhead.

There’s also an 18,000 BTUs of air conditioning assigned to the aft cockpit, and a standard SureShade that extends from the coupe top.

Belowdecks is a full galley, seating area, head with separate shower and aft cabin stateroom with queen-sized berth.

There’s substantial room belowdecks — a full galley and stateroom with queen berth set off the area.

Other standards include: a Bluetooth-enabled Rockford Fosgate stereo system matched to 20 JL Audio speakers in the cockpit and swim platform area and more below decks, with four, 200-watt subwoofers throughout the vessel, all with LED lighting; a 65-inch LCD TV and Bose soundbar and 26-bottle wine fridge in the salon; a Dyson V11 vacuum with dedicated charging station and a plethora of USB charging stations throughout the vessel.
