Genmar is expanding its VEC FinCraft line and plans to introduce several additional models in time for the spring and summer selling season.

"I believe that FinCraft could make the difference in not only helping your dealership to get through these historically difficult times, but FinCraft in many cases could make the difference between a dealership being profitable or not being profitable," Genmar chairman Irwin Jacobs said in a letter to dealers.

There are plans, he said, to have the FinCraft dealership organization signed up in the next three to four months.

Jacobs said he expects to build and retail 8,000 to 10,000 FinCrafts — fiberglass fishing boats from 17 to 19 feet — between now and the end of 2010.
