The Center for Coastal Conservation honored Grady-White president Kris Carroll with its inaugural Eddie Smith Manufacturer of the Year Award in recognition of her commitment to conservation.

Carroll received an antique sextant commemorating the award, according to Grady-White. She was an early board member of the center, which advocates for marine recreational fishing and boating.

Eddie Smith is chairman and CEO of the boatbuilder.

“Kris Carroll is an exemplary marine manufacturer,” American Sportfishing Association president Mike Nussman said when presenting the award. “She is focused on the business of the boating business, and she knows that conservation of America’s fishery resources is a vital part of her business.”

The center established the Eddie Smith Manufacturer of the Year award to honor extraordinary commitment to conservation by manufacturers.

Smith had many marine accolades, including being an instrumental founder of the Coastal Conservation Association of North Carolina.
