Erwin Bamps has been named CEO of Prestige, reporting to Jeaneau and Prestige CEO Jean-Paul Chapeleau

Bamps, 49, is a Belgian native who also speaks Dutch, and has a Master’s Degree in electronics engineering.

He started his career in Asia with a Belgian electronics engineering firm before moving to Dubai in 1998 and then to the Philippines on behalf of a Chinese telecommunications conglomerate.

In 2002, he joined Gulf Craft, which builds luxury yachts and fiberglass boats. Though tapped to head of its industrial and commercial operations, he quickly became CEO.

Over the last 16 years, he has driven the development of the brand, particularly in the Middle East and Asia, according to Prestige parent company Groupe Beneteau.

"I firmly believe that Erwin's industrial, sales and communications expertise, his leadership and his knowledge of the highly exclusive large motor yachts market will enable him to achieve these goals,” said Chapeleau in a statement.

Prestige has a network of 200 dealers for its 13 motoryachts ranging from 42 to 75 feet, and the company appears to want to strengthen its position in emerging markets.

“The brand is widely recognized in Europe and North America,” said the statement. “Erwin Bamps will lead its development in the Middle East and Asia, while continuing to strengthen its luxury position across all the markets.”
