The addition of Delphia Yachts to the group’s portfolio strengthens its presence in central and eastern European and Scandinavian markets.

Groupe Beneteau announced its intention to acquire Delphia Yachts. Terms were not disclosed. Based in Poland, Delphia designs and builds sailboats and motoryachts under the Delphia Yachts and Maxi Yachts brands. It also builds boats for other manufacturers, including Groupe Beneteau.

“This acquisition will further strengthen the group’s solid positions and is in line with its long-term strategy for sustainable and profitable growth,” said Hervé Gastinel, Groupe Beneteau CEO, in an online statement, adding that Beneteau plans to capitalize on Delphia’s “industrial capacity and expertise.”

Delphia has built more than 25,000 boats since its founding in 1990. Last year, it had sales of $35 million (PLN 130 million), with $2.3 million (PLN 9 million) in net income. It employs 670 people. Beneteau expects the acquisition to be completed in the next three months. Delphia will retain a 20 percent ownership stake.

Beneteau said the acquisition will give the company an 18,000-square-meter production site in Poland that specializes on building outboard powerboats and small sailboats and will further strengthen the group’s product range in the liveaboard monohull sailing and river powerboat categories. It will also give the group wider distribution in central and eastern Europe, as well as Scandinavia.
