Hinckley Picnic Boat adds Yanmar 8LV

Hinckley Co. is now exclusively offering Yanmar's new 8LV diesel engine to power its Picnic Boat MK III.

“Smooth, refined propulsion was one of the design criteria for the Picnic Boat repower,” Hinckley vice president of boatbuilding Mike Arieta said in a statement. “Yanmar's 8LV has those qualities and more. The engines are quiet and power-dense, with lots of horsepower per pound.”

Hinckley's standard power for the 37-foot Picnic Boat MK III is the 320-hp 8LV model, with the 370-hp version as an option. Twin engines are paired with ZF gears to power the boat's Hamilton jet drives.

Yanmar distributor Mack Boring and Parts Co. of Union, N.J., supplies the engines.
