Independent Boat Builders Inc. recently honored eight suppliers at its purchasing meeting.

The award winners were chosen on the basis of a survey that IBBI members completed that rated suppliers in six key categories: product quality, customer service, delivery, technical service, accurate invoicing and warranty administration.

Raymarine was recognized as the New Supplier of the Year. Composites One was awarded the overall Supplier of the Year distinction, and Inland Plywood and Piedmont Plastics were also given Supplier of the Year honors.

“All of these suppliers truly go above and beyond in their service to the IBBI members,” IBBI president Tom Broy said in a statement. “These suppliers have shown great support to the IBBI members and the IBBI mission. It is only appropriate that they have been recognized for their efforts and awarded our Supplier of the Year distinction. Every year we complete this survey it gets more difficult to analyze the results since all of our suppliers are extremely dedicated to the IBBI members.”

IBBI also handed out Outstanding Partner Awards to companies that narrowly missed out on the top awards — C.H. Robinson, Vectorply, Fin-Addict Marine and Syrgis.

IBBI was formed in 1989 by a group of independent recreational boatbuilders. Today IBBI has 22 members and is the largest marine purchasing cooperative.
