Independent Boat Builders Inc. is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a purchasing cooperative founded to help independent boatbuilders buy engines at a more competitive price to compete with bigger conglomerates.

Today, IBBI sources more than engines; it has supply contracts for almost everything it takes to build a boat. The organization has also ventured outside of parts and pieces by building relationships with insurance providers, software companies and financing companies.

"It has been a pleasure to watch this organization grow into one of the industry's most sought-after customers," IBBI president Tom Broy said in a statement. "According to the latest retail sales report provided by Statistical Surveys, IBBI is currently ranked as the third-largest producer of boats sold in the United States and ranked only behind Brunswick and Tracker."

IBBI chairman Owen Maxwell adds, "It is great to be associated with such a good group of people. Aside from the supply contracts, we at Regulator see a huge benefit from our ownership in IBBI from the information we learn and share with the other builders."
