Mercury and Brunswick support local United Way

Mercury Marine and Brunswick Public Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Brunswick Corp., completed initiatives to support the United Way of the Fond du Lac, Wis. area.

Last week, Mercury and Brunswick Public Foundation presented ceremonial checks in the amounts of $84,707 and $78,000, respectively, to the United Way’s chapter in Fond du Lac, which is the home of Mercury Marine world headquarters.

Mercury’s donation comes from many sources, including employees’ 2019 payroll-deduction pledges, kickball and golf tournaments, and a Dollars for Doers program. In this program, Brunswick Public Foundation applies a formula to assign a dollar value to employees’ United Way volunteer efforts and contributes the corresponding dollar amount.

The Brunswick Public Foundation’s additional $78,000 donation is a grant that’s part of the organization’s annual giving campaign. The foundation also provides grant money to the United Way chapters in Oshkosh, Wis., and Stillwater, Okla., cities where Mercury has locations.

“The Fond du Lac Area United Way has been a fantastic partner to our employees and the Fond du Lac community, and we will continue to support their initiatives,” Andres Gonzalez, Mercury Marine vice president of human resources, said in a statement. “We are very pleased with the success of our 2018 fundraising initiatives, which have continued to grow over the past few years.”
