Moving Forward
Sea Ray’s Sundancer series has had a four-plus-decade run and is a major part of the builder’s success. The Sundancer 370 makes its world premiere during a live Facebook event at noon Thursday and will mark a new direction for Sea Ray as the first model to incorporate cues from Designworks.
For the 45th anniversary of the Sundancer line, the company continues its focus on outboard boats smaller than 40 feet.
Sea Ray design director Charlie Foss said Designworks (a BMW Group company) is the ideal partner to usher in a sleek, new look.
“Our goal was to define the foundation for bold and pure design expression,” Foss said in a statement. “Working together with Designworks, we were able to produce a fresh set of design principles that pay homage to our brand’s past while indicating the future, resulting in a look that is undeniably Sea Ray.”
Designworks’ goal, according to director of industrial design Johannes Lampela, was to recognize Sea Ray’s history and instill the builder’s recognizable look.
“Our goal working together was to further strengthen that design DNA by bringing forward the most iconic features through a modern design execution,” Lampela said. “What emerged is a modern yet classic aesthetic that is being used to inspire the next generation of Sea Ray boats.”
