Nautique Boat Co. and the World Wake Association are partnering to produce the 2018 Nautique USA National Wakesurf Championships.

The event will take place Sept. 28-30 in Waco, Texas, along the Brazos River. Competitors will perform behind a Super Air Nautique G23.

A new format for judging was developed by the WWA and top wakesurfers. A statement said it will reward the best overall surfers in each division.

“As a guy who has been in competitive wakesurfing since it started, this new format and approach is a breath of fresh air,” said Nautique team rider Drew Danielo. “It’s no longer how many tricks you can jam into a run, but how well and stylish you are in executing tricks.”

In addition to providing boats for the event, Nautique will host a beach party at the BSR Surf Resort. The event is sponsored by GM Marine Engine Technology.

“We aim to give the best possible experiences to our competitors and their families at Nautique events,” said Greg Meloon, president of Nautique, in a statement. “This is the start of a long-term partnership with the WWA and we look forward to providing years of fun, competitive and exciting wakesurfing events.”
